When we thought we had used up all the best ideas for fire media, we struck gold with our most recent unique fire glass product, Fire Glass 2.0.
The cube shape creates an all-new, fresh look that manages to distinguish it from all other fire glass and guarantee respect from any house guests. Five out of six sides of the cube have a luster finish, which creates a beautiful shimmer effect among the flames capable of luring in anyone’s attention. Not only is Fire Glass 2.0 very respected as media for fire features, but it also goes great with any art or home improvement project!
American Fire Glass 2.0 is actually quite different than usual fire glass. First and foremost, Fire Glass 2.0 is cube-shaped, while normal fire glass has no exact uniform shape.
Normal fire glass can either be premium or classic, but Fire Glass 2.0 comes with five luster coated sides instead of just one single reflective side. The look between Fire Glass 2.0 and normal fire glass is also different when they’re engulfed in flames. 2.0’s luster coating creates a glazed reaction, rather than a reflective or non-reflective look.
Because of the more compact density of the ¼” fire glass, it is commonly used with natural gas instead of propane. This tends to result in ¼” fire glass most often being used for indoor fireplaces rather than outdoor fire pits where ½” fire glass is commonly used.
Most of our fire media products have either a reflective (premium) or luster coating on them, but it can be difficult to distinguish the difference between the two. The difference starts with the formation of the glass.
While reflective glass is made by spraying metallic-oxide onto a sheet of glass before the glass is fully made so it is absorbed into the glass itself, Fire Glass 2.0 has the luster coating added after the glass is already formed.
The main difference between the two is the reaction that the coating has when met with the flames of a fire. Reflective fire glass creates a twinkling look that causes the fire to appear as though it’s bouncing off of the glass and going in all directions.
Luster fire glass on the other hand creates a spectacle where it looks as though the glass is actually melting in the fire-pit. Of course, there’s no real need to worry about it melting, so in the meantime, sit back and enjoy the view.
