28" GFRC Concrete Countertop Description
Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC) countertops are a premier choice for End Zone BBQ kitchen modules, engineered specifically to balance structural integrity with manageable weight. By utilizing a specialized mix of high-strength cement and alkali-resistant glass fibers, these countertops offer a sophisticated solution for the demands of an outdoor culinary environment.
Optimized Weight Design
The engineering of these countertops focuses on a dual-thickness profile to ensure durability without excessive mass:
-
Perimeter Thickness: The edges and visible perimeters are cast at 1 1/2" thick. This provides the classic, substantial look of a heavy stone slab and ensures maximum impact resistance where the counter is most exposed.
-
Interior Thickness: The center area is reduced to 3/4" thick. This strategic reduction significantly lowers the overall weight of the module, making transportation and installation easier while placing less stress on the underlying cabinetry.
Strength and Durability
Despite the thinner center section, GFRC is exceptionally strong. The internal glass fiber reinforcement acts similarly to rebar in standard concrete but on a microscopic level, providing high flexural and tensile strength.
-
Weather Resistance: Unlike standard concrete, GFRC is less prone to cracking from freeze-thaw cycles because the fibers distribute tension evenly throughout the slab.
-
Outdoor Longevity: It is highly resistant to UV degradation and moisture, ensuring the countertop maintains its finish and structural form despite constant exposure to the elements in an outdoor kitchen setting.
-
Surface Hardness: The dense composition creates a hard, non-combustible surface that handles the heat and rigorous use typical of a high-performance BBQ area.
Stucco Description
A white stucco finish offers a timeless, Mediterranean-inspired aesthetic that brings a clean and sophisticated look to any outdoor living space. Its crisp appearance serves as a perfect canvas, reflecting sunlight to keep the kitchen area feeling bright and open while contrasting beautifully with stainless steel appliances and stone countertops.
The Advantages of White Stucco
-
Heat Reflection: Unlike darker finishes that absorb solar energy, white stucco reflects UV rays. This helps keep the exterior surfaces of your kitchen modules cooler to the touch during peak summer hours.
-
Seamless Integration: Stucco provides a sleek, continuous texture that hides seams between modules, creating a custom, built-in appearance that mimics traditional masonry.
-
Durability: Engineered for the elements, high-quality stucco is resistant to fire, rot, and impact, ensuring it stands up to the rigors of an outdoor cooking environment.
Effortless Customization
One of the greatest benefits of a stucco finish is its versatility. Because it is a porous, cementitious material, it serves as an ideal substrate for masonry paints.
If you decide to update your backyard color palette in the future, the surface can be easily primed and painted. This allows you to transition from a classic white to an earthy terracotta, a modern charcoal, or any custom hue without the need for expensive structural renovations or resurfacing.
Light Assembly Required
- Appliances and your concrete countertops are packaged separately to avoid damage during shipping.
- Bolt the modules together with the included bolts through the pre drilled holes in the frames. You can also add the Gap Trim for a perfect finish that hides the gaps between modules.
- If patio is uneven now is the time to adjust the modules leveling feet.
- Run a bead of exterior adhesive on the top of the module frame and then set your concrete countertop into place. We recommend 2 people to lift counter tops and lift appliances.
- Now install your Grill and components into the modules using screws. (appliance screws sold separately in needed extras or from your local hardware store) We recommend you pre drill holes making it much easier to get your screws in.

Cast Stainless steel burners included plus lights is why this is $1000 more than the 32" Grill with no lights and tube burners.
